The freedom that we all had has been taken away from us for the time being in order to try and stop the spread of COVID-19. It’s a worrying time for EVERYONE.
This can make your anxiety worse as you worry about what all this means, being forced to stay at home in Lockdown for a period of time. I know as Chelsea is becoming increasingly anxious from hearing the news each day. At this time, it’s so important to take care of YOU – your emotional mind and your body.
Everyone will react differently to what is happening around them. You may become more depressed and worried making your anxiety worse; it’s ok to feel this way. This is an uncertain time for EVERYONE, and although the thought of staying at home may be daunting and challenging, making you bored and frustrated, it’s important to remind ourselves that you are helping to not just protect YOU but OTHERS by doing this.
REMEMBER this is not FOREVER. If everyone does their part, it is a small sacrifice to make in order to get back to our normal healthy way of life.
Here are some tips and advice on how to look after your mental health during this time while you stay at home.

~Don’t isolate yourself if you are at home with family or living with friends. Be part of what is going on in your home. By isolating yourself, it is only going to make you wallow in what is so wrong with the situation- fuelling your anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, there are some that have no choice but to be by themselves. Make sure you use social media as your contact with others, make a list of people in your life you want to connect with and start by scheduling face time with them. ~Stop looking at all the negatives of why you have to stay at home. Ok, so there may not be too many positives right now as this is not fun for ANYONE. But think of fun ways to keep in contact with family and friends who are doing precisely the same thing as you.Turing a negative into a positive
~ You may not be able to all sit with a group watching a movie, but Netflix is letting you all log in together to watch the same movie. (#Netflix)
~ Face time a group of friends for a chat, it takes some getting used to, but so does anything new. By the end of this, you will be a pro and quite use to face-timing a conversation with people. A great way to keep in touch with friends and nice to see a friendly face at the other end. (#FaceTime)
~Maybe you are not a reader of books, but have you ever listened to Podcasts? Well, let me tell you there is an entire new world out there with so many different articles to keep you occupied.
